Massimiliano
Testa
"When words leave off, music begins"
When he picked up a guitar for the first time, Italian guitarist Massimiliano Testa was just two years old. From that moment on, his instrument has been integral part of his personal development, in a way that Heinrich Heine's famous quote "when words leave off, music begins" would adequately explain.
What Massimiliano cares about the most is to express himself and emotionally involve the audience, since he strongly believes that a deeper level of mutual understanding and sense of communion can be reached, through music. Whether he's playing a technically demanding piece of music or a soothing one, the main goal is to touch the listener and communicate his strong belief in empathy and hard work.
He mainly plays classical guitar recitals, but also has a lot of experience with electric guitar music and tries to cover as many styles as possible, ranging from classical to jazz, pop and rock music.
Massimiliano also has a deep passion for ensemble playing: he is part of Eko Orchestra, a guitar ensemble that displays a musically diverse repertoire and with which he recently played in the finals of the very important Sanremo Trend Festival. On 15th December 2022, they released their debut single called "Gitano". To learn more, click here.
Massimiliano is now studying classical guitar at Conservatorium Maastricht, where he's attending his second Master in the class of Maestro Carlo Marchione. As a soloist for Eko Orchestra, he's now endorser for Eko guitars company. Later on this year, Eko Orchestra is recording their first album under INRI CLASSIC record label. Massimiliano is also collaborating with ET-TEAM record productions as a session man.
In addiction to his concert activity, Massimiliano is very fond of research. He's about to finish his Musicology Master studies at Tor Vergata University of Rome, conducting a thesis on 19th century guitar repertoire and the importance of harmonic knowledge for its interpretation.
At the age of eight, Massimiliano had his first guitar lessons with Maestro Fulvio Mancone, one of the first members of Italian Conservatories guitar class. At age eleven, he was admitted to Frosinone Conservatory pre-academic courses and 5 years later he passed the entrance exam to the bachelor degree course with top marks, coming first in the ranking.
On 10th December 2019, under the guidance of Maestro Eugenio Becherucci, he obtained his bachelor degree, achieved with top marks and honours. He then continued with his Master studies, graduating with top marks, honors and honorable mention.
Massimiliano Testa plays a Gabriele Lodi "Contemporary" model guitar.
